The Beacon Bolt is a publication of the student body of Northwest Christian University.

The Men’s team ended their season 3-14-1, winning two in conference play and scoring sixteen goals. The Lady Beacons 3-13-1, also winning two conference games and scoring fifteen goals.

A pair of seniors earned Second-Team All-CCC for the women’s team, Kristin Fulbright and Melyssa Weber. Fulbright is NCU’s leader in every goalkeeping category, with a 1.51 career GAA and 14 shutouts. She also received second-team All-CCC selections for her freshman and sophomores seasons. Weber finished her career with 13 goals, tied for the third most in NCU history. She said, “I am most proud of my team for the perseverance we showed this season. We came out every day and worked extremely hard no matter the circumstances.”

Sophomore Annie Tunstill earned an All-CCC honorable mention while playing all over the field, mostly defensive. Annie admired her team’s family dynamic saying, “No matter what is thrown our way whether it’s as a unit or individually, it is such a blessing to know that my girls will always have my back. I am so proud of the determination and drive our team brings to every game. We struggled with pulling out wins this season but our team never backed down from a fight in spite of that.”

Tunstill’s favorite game was their very last, a home game versus Eastern Oregon because the team played with heart and passion. She would first love to thank her family, “who came to every game within their reach to cheer me on. I would also like to thank my coach Kirsten Cardwell for pushing me and encouraging me in a way that helped be confident in the player that I am.”

Two men’s seniors also were selected, defenders Steve Jusko and Aaron Chesnut. It was Chesnut’s first selection and Jusko’s second, who was honored his sophomore season. Senior goal keeper, John Castro said, “What I am most proud of my team is being dedicated and having the right mind set to get things done.” Senior Isaiah Blake was the leading scorer with 4 goals this season, Sophomore Joey Garcia and Senior Steve Jusko tied for the lead in assists with 3.

Both soccer teams had success in the classroom totaling seventeen student-athletes earned Academic All-CCC honors. Eight members of the Men’s Soccer team, Seniors Isaiah Blake, Noam Glater, Steve Jusko and Brandon Lotts, Junior Colin McManamon and lastly Sophomores TJ Burton, Zeph Hollins and Kyle McMurrich. The Women’s Soccer earned nine awards, including Seniors Candis Hatfield, Joceline Howard, Jacelyn Neumann and Janelle Richards, Junior Bryce Branagan-Franco and Sophomores Mackenzie Galick, Brighton Hebisen, Annie Tunstill and Raechel Warren.
